Sensei Surrett is the Head Instructor at Leicester Martial Arts Academy and the President of the Sekkinsen Goshin-Jitsu Federation. In 2008, Sensei Surrett received Hall of Fame recognition from the Brotherhood of Martial Artist and the United States Jujitsu Alliance. In 2005, Sensei Surrett started a Martial Science Program at a local high school. The Martial Science Program was started as a means to reach the students curiosity, perseverance, and determination and to mold it in a productive manner. Using Karate/Martial Arts, we can equip the students with life skills and help train them to overcome their limitations. The Martial Science Program teaches respect and courtesy, as well as self-defense techniques. The Program will help aid in building of self-confidence and direction. We encourage the student to study, think, and question and gain a real appreciation for their potential. A vital element of the Martial Science Program is discipline. The principles and values of discipline are embodied in the required dedication, perseverance, determination, self-control, concentration, and respect. Earnest practice under a dedicated and proficient teacher is the key to successful training and a successful life. With 23 years of experience, Sensei Surrett has made a lifelong commitment to studying the Martial Arts and helping people. I give honor to the Lord Jesus Christ for giving me the ability to train in the Martial Arts. I would also like to thank my family and instructors, Shihan Bohannon and Hanshi Wilcox, for all that they shared with me over the years. (Mr. Bohannon was my first teacher, much of who I am as a Martial Arts Instructor Is because of what he taught me. Sensei was like an older brother to me; to this day, he still gives me advice. Thank you Sensei Bohannon. ) Sensei Surrett Awards
